32nd Annual
PACIFIC NORTHWEST MUAY THAI CAMP
2024
August 7th – August 10th
INTRO
Dear WTBA Instructors and Students,
The WTBA is hosting the 32nd Annual Pacific Northwest Muay Thai Camp (aka Oregon Camp) from August 7th – 10th, 2024, at the beautiful scenic park at Camp Wilkerson in Rainer, Oregon.
You are invited to attend and spend four days of intensive Muay Thai training among some of my most senior students, with myself as your lead instructor. Collectively, we will continue to guide you along in developing and refining your Muay Thai basics and providing an in-depth look at advanced techniques and strategies. Additionally, we will demonstrate and help you perfect your teaching approach and practices in the art of Muay Thai.
This may be the last year hosting at Camp Wilkerson due to rising camp costs and overhead expenses, and will need to think about other possible locations for next year if we continue with the camp. As always, I look forward to the opportunity of spending time with my instructors and especially the senior instructors as I’m not sure if my health will allow me to continue to travel. Please join me this year to enjoy another family reunion of students. I look forward to seeing you at the Oregon camp this year.
Sincerely,
Surachai “Chai” Sirisute Founder & President,
World Thai Boxing Association
BACKGROUND
Ajarn Chai is known throughout the world for his highly praised seminars on Muay Thai. He is the founder and president of the World Thai Boxing Association. In addition to the World Thai Boxing Association in the United States, he has established international associations in Germany, Barbados, Luxembourg, Canada, Mexico, U.K., Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, Puerto Rico, and Sweden.
Throughout his 50+ years, Ajarn Chai has taught Thai Boxing techniques to over 20,000 students. His early years included teaching in backyards, YMCAs, colleges and universities. Specializing in training full contact fights for International competition in W.K.A., P.K.C., I.K.B.A., K.I.C.K. and Muay Thai, he also headed the first U.S. team to Thailand to compete in the International Championships (1982 Bangkok, Thailand). From 1983 to 1990, Ajarn Chai was a conditioning trainer for the Dallas Cowboys, and has trained many amateur and professional Thai boxers.
Muay Thai has no belt ranking system and can create a devastating fighter with a short period of intense training. As Ajarn Chai notes, “I believe that the one standing after a fight is the true expert.” Learn the ropes of Muay Thai from one of the great Masters of our time.
