accomodations

I was wondering if I should get a hotel. I understand that there is lodging at the camp but understand that most everyone is getting a hotel room. Is this the way to go? If I stay at the camp - what should I bring?

Also what are the contact numbers for the people in charge because I might have a potential problem forcing me at the last moment to be unable to attend?
